South Front Street Project Awarded, Construction Scheduled to Start in September
Cuyahoga Falls City Council passed an ordinance authorizing the City to enter into a contract with Kenmore Construction for the South Front Streetscape Project at its July 8, 2024, meeting.
Construction will begin in September, with anticipated completion in October 2025. The South Front Street Streetscape project area runs from Broad Boulevard to Grant Avenue. It will include underground utilities, public wireless access, bike lanes, sidewalks, streetlights, planters, benches, and bike racks throughout the area, mirroring updates to the northern portion of Front Street as part of the Downtown Transformation project.
The project also includes parking upgrades, including rebuilding city-owned off-street parking, EV charging stations, and enhanced on-street, metered parking. The City has secured additional parking through lease agreements to accommodate businesses and visitors during construction.
Two points of interest will serve as focal points: an illuminated arch will welcome visitors to the upgraded corridor south of Broad Boulevard, and Pedal Park, located near the corner of Front Street and Falls Avenue, will offer cyclists features such as e-bike charging, solar umbrellas, benches, a water filling station, and a bicycle repair station.
